ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Textile Department was established in 1994 with an aim to train qualified specialists of one of the most developed fields of industry in the world who are specialising in the area of sewing and designing services. It is characterised by overlapping of craft and art, whereas the training process uses only the superior quality raw-materials. The most modern equipment ensures the competitiveness of future specialists in the labour market not only in Lithuania, but also all over Europe.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMMES

Training performed in detention centres:

  • Tailor training programme, code 440054212 (for those with the secondary education, duration – 2 years).
  • Cutter/pattern design and modeller training programme, code 440054217 (for those with the secondary education, duration – 1.5 years).
  • Fine textile handicrafts producer training programme, code 330021505 (for those with the basic education, duration – 3 years).
  • Fine textile handicrafts producer training programme, code 440021505 (for those with the secondary education, duration – 2 years).
    • Wicker craft training programme, code 210021512 (duration - 2 years)
    • Clothes stitching operator training programme, code 210054213 (duration - 2 years).

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND COOPERATION

Since 1998, the Department’s community has not only successfully participated but also contributed to the organisation of international project “The Baltic Days” by presenting the thematic clothing collections prepared by students and characterised by exclusive quality and originality. The students are active participants and winners of international and Lithuanian competitions of producers of fine textile handicrafts and mastery of tailor specialty students.

The Department cooperates with the Kaunas Garrison Officers’ Club of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Curia of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kaunas. It created the collections of historical apparel and historical flags to the projects implemented by the Vytautas the Great War Museum and the Palace of the Grand Dukes. Since 2006, it has successfully assisted in organising the Lithuanian Pupils’ Olympiad of Technologies. The students and teachers of the Department are actively participating in various national and international projects, competitions, social charity campaigns and shows.
