Paramedic

You can choose to study after 12 grades (duration of studies – 2 years).

The training programme is aimed at preparing paramedics able to provide quality medical aid.

To pursue these aims, in theoretical courses, the future paramedics are taught the basics of first-aid administration, reanimation and intensive therapy, emergency medical aid, healthy life-style, medical ethics, anatomy, physiology, pathology, microbiology, catastrophe medicine, etc.

The practical training takes place in the Centre’s training base, state and private treatment institutions, emergency medical service stations and divisions, patient receptions in hospitals, lockups of police commissariats, healthcare institutions of detention centres, military, Fire Safety and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior, vessels, civil aviation, sports clubs, frontier security guard service, etc. Duration of practical training – 40 weeks. The skills of first-aid administering, reanimation and intensive therapy, emergency medical aid, etc. are solidified and improved during the practical training.

The vocational readiness of the student, who passed the entire training programme, is demonstrated by the results of competency assessment examination which evaluates the competencies and general skills laid out in the curriculum. The composition of the commission of competency assessment examinations, organisation and the procedure of the issue of documents are regulated by the Ministry of Education and Science. The graduate is conferred with the qualification of paramedic.

After completing the paramedic training programme, it is possible to continue studies according to the higher education study programmes in the area of healthcare.

 

Description of qualification

The paramedic’s qualification is necessary in order to work as a paramedic.

The person, who acquired the paramedic’s qualification, shall:

  • be able to evaluate the patient’s anatomical, physiological and pathological condition, evaluate patient organism’s functions, the disorder of which can cause risk to person’s life, to administer first aid in case of acute conditions, traumas and hazardous environmental factors under the supervision of healthcare specialist or individually, drive special vehicles, transport injured persons, use primary prevention medical prophylaxis measures, medical measures stored in a special vehicle;

  • know the traffic regulations, medical ethics requirements, basics of communication culture, anatomy, physiology, pathology, emergency medical service administration;

  • be able to work fast, responsibly and attentively, effectively communicate with colleagues.

Having acquired the paramedic’s qualification, the persons can work in state and private institutions, emergency medical service stations and divisions, patient receptions in hospitals, lockups of police commissariats, healthcare institutions of detention centres, military, Fire Safety and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior, vessels, civil aviation, sports clubs, frontier security guard service, etc.
