Hairdresser

You can choose to study after 10 or after 12 grades (duration of studies – 3 or 2 years).

The training programme is aimed at preparing hairdressers able to provide hairdressing services: to men, women and children of various ages, model haircuts, dye hair, perform chemical haircuts, head massage, etc.

To pursue these aims, in theoretical courses, the future hairdressers are taught the provision of hair cutting, haircut modelling, hairdressing, dyeing, curling services for women, children and men, composition and application of products made of hair, use of hairdressing salon tools and equipment, communication with clients, etc.

Practical training is performed in Centre’s practical training bases, hairdressing and beauty salons. Duration of practical training – 47.5 weeks. The skills of hair cutting, hairdressing, chemical hairdressing, hair dyeing, care and head massage, etc. are solidified and improved during the practical training.

The vocational readiness of the student, who passed the entire training programme, is demonstrated by the results of competency assessment examination which evaluates the competencies and general skills laid out in the curriculum. The composition of the commission of competency assessment examinations, organisation and the procedure of the issue of documents are regulated by the Ministry of Education and Science. The graduate is conferred with the qualification of hairdresser.

After completing the training programme of hairdresser, it is possible to continue studies according to the higher education study programmes in the area of personal services. 

 

 

Description of qualification

The qualification of hairdresser is necessary in order to work as a hairdresser in private hairdressing and beauty salons and pursue individual activity.

The hairdresser shall be able to service clients of various age groups in private and public hairdressing salons, give advice and recommendations on hair care, explain what products to use for hair of various structures, select hair colour and haircut according to the person’s face, cut the hair by applying various techniques and technologies, form haircuts, apply hair curling techniques, etc.

The person, who acquired hairdresser’s qualification, shall:

  •  be able to prepare the workplace and plan his/her working time, clean and sterilise tools, equipment and other means in a safe manner, perform preparatory and finishing works of customer service, select and prepare cosmetic tools for use, chemical preparations and hair dye, provide head washing and massage services, cut, dress and dye hair, perform chemical curling, produce plastic products and apply in hairdressing, use chemical preparations, cosmetic tools, hair care products and devices;

  • understand the structure of the hair and hair care particularities, chemical substances and their composition, types of massages, tools used for cutting and hairdressing as well as the modelling styles;

  • be able to work responsibly, attentively, individually and fast, organise his/her work, effectively communicate and cooperate with colleagues and clients, adapt to changing environment.
