Florist

You can choose to study after 12 grades (duration of studies – 2 years).

The qualification of florist is necessary to work as a florist in flower stores and salons.

The florist shall, at the request of the client, be able to create various decorative compositions of fresh and dry flowers, to prepare bouquets for ceremonies and solemn events, to prepare flower garlands, crowns, decorate household items, glass-cases, residential apartments and other premises with plants, to service clients according to the requirements of communication culture and etiquette, to plan the course of his/her own works, to follow the requirements of occupational safety.

The vocational readiness of the student, who passed the entire training programme, is demonstrated by the results of competency assessment examination which evaluates the competencies and general skills laid out in the curriculum. The composition of the commission of competency assessment examinations, organisation and the procedure of the issue of documents are regulated by the Ministry of Education and Science.

 

Description of qualification

The person, who acquired the florist’s qualification, shall:

  • be able to plant, propagate and cultivate plants in view of their variety and care characteristics, protect plants against diseases and pests by using appropriate means, pick and dry plants, work with florist’s working tools, compose the bouquets of various styles, forms and compositions according to the selected technique, create interior and exterior phyto-compositions, collect natural materials, conserve them, dye, store, plan the course of works, know the biological properties of plants, market laws, methods of price establishment and issue of invoices, rules of use of electronic cash registers, occupational safety and health requirements, sanitary and hygiene regulations, to work responsibly, helpfully, creatively and attentively.
